Placer County State Fair Exhibit Wins Gold Ribbon

Placer County ’s exhibit at the California State Fair was awarded a gold award ribbon on August 11, 2006.

Placer was one of 13 counties to win a gold ribbon. Each county that creates an exhibit for the State Fair receives a gold, silver or bronze award ribbon. The ribbons were handed out during a press conference at the fair held Friday afternoon. Facility Services Director Jim Durfee was on hand to accept the county’s award.

“I’m extremely proud of our team that put this year’s exhibit together, representing PlacerCountyat its best,” said Durfee.  “They worked very hard and did a great job, continuing our award winning tradition.”

Placer County ’s exhibit is a whimsical farmer’s market filled with local produce and other agricultural products. It has more than 20 animated attractions, including animals and vegetables that move to and fro.

Placer County ’s exhibit is created each year by a team of volunteers, county staff and local sponsors. The exhibits are a great way to promote PlacerCountyto hundreds of thousands of fair visitors each year. The county has a well-earned reputation for creating outstanding exhibits. Since 1991, it has left the fair five times with the Golden Bear, the trophy handed out to the winner of the Best of Show Award.

The State Fair will run throuhg Sept. 4. It will be closed on Mondays except for Labor Day.
