The general public is invited to attend a community forum to be held in
AuburnThursday, Dec. 7 to discuss the proposed Placer County Conservation Plan.
The forum will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the hearing room at Placer County’s Community Development ResourceCenter, 3091 County Center Drive. The Resource Centeris a new building at Bell Roadand Richardson Drivein the DeWitt Center.
Thursday’s forum is the first of series of meetings Placer County’s Planning Department has scheduled for this month and January to seek input on the proposed plan. The main focus of discussion will be alternative reserve-system maps and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
The plan also will be discussed at a meeting of the Biological Stakeholders Working Group to be held Tuesday, Dec. 12. It will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the hearing room at the Community Development Resource Center. The meeting will be open to the general public.
The proposed conservation plan is intended to be a wide-ranging program for Western Placer Countythat will meet the anticipated mitigation requirements of various state and federal agencies. The permits will span a 50-year timeframe, with implementation and land-protection measures managed in perpetuity.
The conservation plan is intended to address impacts associated primarily with growth in unincorporated areas of West Placer and development resulting from the buildout of the city of Lincoln’s updated general plan.
Currently, the county is in the process of selecting a reserve system map which will identify areas where urban growth may be concentrated and areas where resource preservation could occur.
