County Executive Officer Thomas M. Miller has named Troy Held as interim director of the Placer County Department of Child Support Services.   The appointment was confirmed by the Board of Supervisors during their closed session meeting on Jan. 9, 2007.

Most recently, Held has served as Assistant Director and Supervising Attorney in the department.Previously he was assistant director of the Sierra Nevada Regional Department of Child Support Service and, prior to that, was the Chief Deputy District Attorney in .He has also worked as a deputy district attorney in Placer, Siskiyou and Sacramento county District Attorney’s offices.

Mr. Held has earned a law degree from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento, a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from () and an associate of science in criminal justice from in .

Pamela McManis, who served as director of the department until recently, has accepted a position in another region. “She led our Child Support Services Department wisely and well, maximizing services to the community despite challenging state budget issues over years,” said CEO Miller.  “We wish her well in her new appointment.”

’s Department of Child Support Services provides child assistance to residents on behalf of the State of , including a variety of services to parents and guardians, helping them fulfill their responsibilities to children.
