The Federal Highway Administration has agreed to reimburse Placer Countyfor the cost of repairing storm damage to Foresthill Roadthat occurred last year.
On Tuesday the Placer County Board of Supervisors is expected to authorize staff to execute an agreement that will repay an estimated $3,230,000 in county road funds.
Last year, Foresthill Roadexperienced two major embankment failures and several areas of minor damage. The damage forced the emergency closure of two lanes, construction of a temporary lane and rerouting through the section, which allowed two-way traffic to continue on the damaged but much-used roadway.
Because Foresthill Roadis the main paved roadway in and out of Foresthill, Placer Countyused local road funds to do the emergency repair and safety project and sought federal reimbursement.
“My thanks go to all those involved in solving this problem, particularly the staff who worked so hard to keep the road open and to the community for being so patient as the work was being done,” said Supervisor Bruce Kranz.
The Board of Supervisors' meeting begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the County Administrative Center, 175 Fulweiler Avenue in Auburn.
