's Indian Gaming Local Community Benefit Committee (LCBC) has announced the recipients of this year's grants. The grants are given annually to local government agencies to mitigate the effects of tribal gaming.
At its May, 2007 meeting, the Committee considered 19 eligible application requests totaling more than $1 million. After reviewing the requests, eight individual applications were selected for funding. The allocation for 2007 is $326,729. The successful grant awards are listed below:

The grant funds come from the Indian Gaming Special Distribution Fund e stablished by the state and are based on an assessment on tribal gaming machines that were in place prior to 1999. Grant funding is determined by the California State Controllers Office.
“The Tribe is honored to play a roll in supplementing so many services that are vital to Placer County,” said Jessica Tavares, tribal chairwoman of the United Auburn Indian Community. “These grants will benefit many programs and services that our region is fortunate to have in place, and we are excited to be able to contribute to them.”
"We are especially appreciative of the UAIC for being good neighbors," said Robert Weygandt, Placer County Supervisor and Committee member. "Through these grants, they help fund so many programs that benefit the community in the western portion of PlacerCounty."
The LCBC, in conjunction with the United Auburn Indian Community, will recommend to the State Controller's Office which applications should be awarded grants. The County, its cities, and special districts within the County affected by tribal gaming are eligible to apply for grants.
