The Clerk of the Board of Supervisors has posted a notice of vacancy for the District 5 seat on the Placer County Planning Commission.
People who live in supervisorial District 5 are eligible to submit applications to serve on the commission as the district representative. District 5 extends from portions of North Auburn to the Nevada Stateline.
An application may be obtained on the county web site, www.placer.ca.gov/bos (Committees and Commissions) or by contacting or visiting the office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors Office, 175 Fulweiler Ave., Auburn, telephone 530-889-4020 weekdays. While the form may be completed online, the Clerk of the Board must receive an original, signed application.
The Planning Commission is the principal advisory body to the Board of Supervisors on planning and related matters. Commissioners hold hearings for public input and make recommendations on proposed general plans, studies and zoning text amendments. They review and make decisions on major land development proposals. Public input is encouraged.
Commissioner candidates who represent districts are nominated by the district supervisors and appointed by votes of the entire board. Commissioners’ terms are concurrent with the term of the district supervisor they serve.
Meetings are usually held on the second and fourth Thursdays at 10 a.m. in the Planning Commission Chambers, 3091 County Center Drive, in North Auburn. Sometimes meetings are held in North Lake Tahoeand other locations. Commissioners receive $100 per diem and payment of additional expenses necessary to attend meetings and perform the duties of the office.
