The Placer County Agricultural Commission will address a proposed draft winery ordinance at its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, July 9, 2007. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in a new location: the Placer County Planning Commission Hearing Room, 3091 County Center Drive, in the DeWitt Center in Auburn.
The purpose of the Draft Winery Ordinance is to establish winery specific regulations to provide more certainty and some regulatory relief for winery operators, while striking a reasonable balance that will not result in significant adverse impacts to neighborhoods.
The Draft Ordinance includes a purpose statement and definitions that include descriptions of wineries, tasting rooms and accessory uses, and promotional events conducted to promote the sale of winery products. Permit requirements are outlined, dependent upon the size of the winery/tasting room facility, the size of the parcel, zoning district and access from a public or private road. In addition, standards are included for parking, road access, fire protection access, potable water, waste disposal and promotional events.
