- A residential structure fire that became a wildland fire on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe Saturday afternoon was contained at less than 20 acres;
- Five houses and one out building were destroyed in the blaze;
- Placer County has begun working with the homeowners and residents who were directly affected by the fire. Specifically, the departments involved include: Assessor, Land Development, Building, Health and Human Services, Public Works, Facilities Services, Office of Emergency Services and Public Information Office. All are involved in coordinating a quick recovery;
- Placer County is working with various property owners so they can meet their goals of debris removal and potential runoff mitigation prior to seasonal rains;
- The County will work with other regulatory agencies to facilitate recovery and coordination with the property owners;
- The cause of the fire is still under investigation;
- All streets that were closed and evacuated have been opened;
- The fire started near Sunnyside south of Tahoe City, in the Tahoe Park subdivision and moved onto U.S. Forest Service land;
- The fire was contained Sunday;
- The fire temporarily closed Highway 89 on the West Shore and forced evacuations of some residents and visitors and cut power in the burn area;
