A children’s art contest is one of the highlights of “Child Support Awareness Month”, which runs through August. Both by Placer County Board of Supervisors and the office of the governor made the annual proclamation, which calls attention to the fact that children need the support of both parents.
To celebrate the awareness, the County Department of Child Support Services is sponsoring the contest, which is themed, "Living in Placer County." Children are encouraged to create and submit artwork about what they feel represents Placer County. Prizes will be awarded by age group and there is a $50 grand prize.
Art submitted to the Department will be posted on its website. Additional information regarding the contest, including rules and color sheets, is also available at the site. Prize money has been privately donated by individuals and employees of the Department.
“The Placer County Department of Child Support Services is committed to children and families”, said Christi Herdal, Outreach Coordinator for the Department. “Parents participation in the lives of children provide for a better chance of success. Our mission is to provide parents and children with quality child support services to assist with achieving that success.”
Also during the month of August, the Placer County Department of Child Support Services is giving away, while supplies last, pencil buddies to children who visit our offices. The pencil buddies are a great back-to-school item.
