The Placer County Office of Emergency Services (OES) and local Fire Safe Councils are hosting public meetings to present the draft Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) for the west slope of the Sierra Nevada in Placer County.
“Facing a devastating wildfire in your community is everyone’s nightmare,” stressed George Alves, Placer County Fire Mitigation Coordinator.
“Likewise, taking steps to prevent such a fire is every resident’s responsibility. Our draft Community Wildfire Protection Plan focuses on those very actions we must take to make our homes and communities as safe as possible.”
The draft plan seeks to identify and prioritize the projects that will most reduce hazardous fuels in and adjacent to communities. “It’s essential that residents take seriously the commitment to reduce the danger of wildfire by providing their input to the plan, " Alves said.
The public is encouraged to attend the upcoming Fire Safe Council meeting in their area to provide comment on the Plan.
Meetings are planned as follows:
· Placer Sierra Fire Safe Council, Thursday, January 24th, 6:00 PM, at the Fire Station in Colfax, 33 Church St.,
· Greater Auburn Area Fire Safe Council, Monday, January 28th, 4:30 PM at the Auburn City Hall, Room 10, 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn.
