Foresthill Shelter Now Closed
Foresthill Shelter Now Closed
January 08, 2008

An emergency shelter that was opened by Placer County and the American Red Cross to serve residents in the Foresthill area has been closed, effective noon, Jan. 8, 2008. The shelter, at the Veterans Memorial Hall, was opened in response to power outages from severe storms that hit the area.

Power to most of the Foresthill area has been restored by Pacific Gas & Electric crews. While some residents utilized the facility on Sunday evening, the shelter was not occupied overnight Monday.

A second shelter, at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn, 1273 High Street, will stay open until further notice as there are areas within the county that remain without power.

Those who have not yet had power restored are encouraged to continue to call PG&E several times a day to report the continued outages. PG&E’s number to report outages is 800- 743-5002.
