Survey Seeks Input on Expansion of Internet Service

June 17, 2008
Economic Development proponents in Placer County are requesting that businesses and residents with a desire for faster internet service complete an important survey. Survey data will be aggregated by Chico State University and shared with internet service providers throughout the region to facilitate expansion of broadband in underserved communities. The surveys were distributed at two recently-held community workshops in North Lake Tahoe and Foresthill but additional responses are needed. The effort to deploy additional broadband capability is being sponsored by the Sierra Economic Development Corporation (SEDCorp), with support from the North Tahoe Business Association, Tahoe City Downtown Association, and Foresthill Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Placer County Office of Economic Development.
The survey is funded by a $10,000 grant awarded by the California Emerging Technology Fund, which was established by the California Public Utilities Commission. To complete a survey, click on this link: Internet Survey and follow the instructions. For additional information, please contact the SEDCorp at 530-823-4703.
