Meeting planned regarding Concrete Batch Plant

January 22, 2009

At the request of District Three Supervisor Jim Holmes, the Placer County Community Development Resource Agency will host a community meeting on Thursday, Feb. 5, concerning the Livingston’s Concrete Batch Plant proposed to be built in Ophir.

People who attend will have a chance to hear a description of the project, review site plans, ask questions of the project proponents and the various county departments, and make comments.

The meeting will take place at the Placer County Community Development Resource Center in North Auburn, 3091 County Center Drive (the new building near the corner of Bell Road and Richardson Drive in the Government Center). It will begin at 7 p.m. in the Planning Commission Hearing Room.

The proposed project would be built on five acres located on the southeast corner of the intersection of Geraldson Road and Ophir Road, between Ophir Road and Interstate 80. The site is zoned for industrial uses.

“We understand residents have interest in this project. That’s why we are holding this meeting - so they can more easily ask questions,” Supervisor Holmes said. Speakers at several Newcastle-Ophir Municipal Advisory Commission meetings have also provided information on the project.

An environmental impact report has been prepared, and is available on the Placer County web site, www.placer.ca.gov (Do a “search” for “Livingston”, look for “Final EIR”). Staff Planner Leah Rosasco can also provide more information; contact her at lrosasco@placer.ca.gov or by phone at 530-745-3091.

Residents and others may also make comments when the project goes before the Planning Commission. Information about the date and time will become available on the web site (go to “I need information on” and look for “Planning Commission”), or call the Planning Department at 530-745-3000.

“I encourage you to attend, ask questions, and provide input at this meeting and also when this item goes before the Planning Commission,” Supervisor Holmes said.
