Newly elected District 5 Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery has announced her availability and the availability of her staff. Due to the size of the district, there will be a field representative in both the eastern end of the District, including the Lake Tahoe Basin, and on the County’s West Slope.
Supervisor Montgomery’s schedule will likely include regular office hours in Auburn and on the eastern end of her district. She will be in Auburn Mondays through Wednesdays at the County’s administrative offices at 175 Fulweiler Ave. On Thursdays and Fridays she will be available on the eastern side of the county. Please call the Board office at 530-889-4010 to schedule an appointment in either location.
Sup. Montgomery will also represent Placer County on the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board. TRPA is a bi-state entity that governs all development policy in the Tahoe Basin.
District 5 has a number of Municipal Advisory Councils (MAC): Weimar Applegate and Colfax (WAC) MAC, Meadow Vista MAC, North Auburn MAC, Foresthill Forum, North Tahoe Regional Advisory Council (NTRAC) and Squaw Valley MAC (SVMAC). She plans on attending a majority of these meetings. Additionally, she will hold regular coffee klatches in her district. These are usually informal morning meetings where constituents can discuss issues of interest with the Supervisor. Details of these meetings will be forthcoming.
“As I have said all along, listening to the people in the communities in the 5th District is one of my priorities,” said Montgomery. “I intend on maintaining transparency and availability by regularly attending meetings in my District and making myself and my field representatives available to meet with residents and interested parties.”
Rob Haswell is Sup. Montgomery’s West Slope Field Representative and will be based in the County’s administrative offices in Auburn. His territory will extend from north Auburn to roughly the intersection of Interstate 80 and Highway 20 near the Yuba Gap. He will attend the WAC MAC, Meadow Vista MAC, North Auburn MAC, and the Foresthill Forum. Haswell can be reached at his office: 530-889-4010, or by e-mail: rhaswell@placer.ca.gov.
Steve Kastan will be the Supervisor’s representative for the eastern end of the district, from the I80/Highway 20 intersection to the California state line, including Placer County’s portion of Lake Tahoe. He will be based in the Tahoe Basin and will attend the NTRAC and SVMAC. Kastan may be contacted at 530-581-0345, or by e-mail skastan@placer.ca.gov.
