Placer County offices will be closed Fri., May 22, 2009 as a cost-saving measure. County offices will also be closed on Mon., May 25, 2009, for the Memorial Day holiday.
All county emergency response and 24-hour-a-day services will continue uninterrupted, including law enforcement and emergency support to individuals, such as child protective services.
Friday is one of four days this spring that county offices have been or will be closed as approximately 2,200 county employees, including confidential and management employees, take unpaid, mandatory time off. This action was approved by the Board of Supervisors on Dec. 9, 2008, to help fill a gap in the 2008-09 budget, which was thrown out of balance as property taxes, sales taxes, investments and other revenues declined sharply.
County transit services will be available as usual.
