Placer County offices will be closed Friday, Oct. 9 as a cost-saving measure and Monday, Oct. 12 to observe the Columbus Day holiday.
All county emergency-response and 24-hour-a-day services will continue uninterrupted both days, including law enforcement and emergency support to individuals, such as child protective services.
Friday is one of 12 days county offices will be closed during the 2009-10 fiscal year while approximately 2,200 county employees take unpaid, mandatory time off. The furlough days apply to three groups of employees: management, confidential and those represented by the Placer Public Employees Organization.
The 12 furlough days will help the county balance its budget for 2009-10.
All county transit services will operate according to their regular schedules Friday through Monday.
All branches of the Placer County Library will be closed Friday and Monday.
The Auburn and Rocklin branches will be open on Saturday, Oct. 10. The following branches will be closed on Saturday: Applegate, Colfax, Foresthill, Granite Bay, Kings Beach, Loomis, Meadow Vista, Penryn and Tahoe City. All branch libraries are closed on Sundays.
