Review of Proposed Granite Bay Community Plan To Be Held; Public Encouraged to Come

October 22, 2009

Placer County’s review of the Granite Bay Community Plan will be the focus of a public workshop to be held Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The workshop will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 6365 Douglas Blvd., in Granite Bay.

The purpose of the workshop is to give the public an informal opportunity to provide input and comments on community-requested changes to the 1989 community plan as they relate to policies and land use.

“I am pleased our staff is bringing a very interactive and community-member-driven workshop to the residents of Granite Bay to ensure their voices are heard in this community plan review process,” said Supervisor Kirk Uhler, Granite Bay’s representative on the county Board of Supervisors.

The Placer County Planning Department will host the meeting, and will ask the public to participate in an interactive survey exercise that will help shape the development of policies and land-use changes. Survey results will be complied, analyzed and brought to the Granite Bay Municipal Advisory Council for review early next year.

County staff will be at the meeting to answer questions about the planning process and to discuss more specific policy, infrastructure and land-use issues.

The public is invited to drop by the workshop at any time between 7 and 9 p.m.

The community plan provides a framework and vision for the long-term growth and orderly development of Granite Bay. The Community Development Resource Agency is conducting the review because the plan is now 20 years old and has undergone only minor revisions since its adoption.

A community meeting was held in February 2009 to launch the review process and was followed by a six-month period during which Granite Bay property owners were asked to submit any requests for policy and land-use changes. Updates on the planning process have been presented at monthly meetings of the municipal advisory council.

More information on the Granite Bay Community Plan review is available online by going to the county homepage at www.placer.ca.gov and using the list of departments in the upper right corner of the homepage to find the Planning Department. An icon for the community plan review is on the left side of the department’s website.

The public also can obtain additional information by calling Supervising Planner E.J. Ivaldi at 530-745-3147 or sending him e-mails at ejivaldi@placer.ca.gov.
