Placer County offices will be closed Friday, Sept.4 as a cost-saving measure and Monday, Sept. 7 to observe the Labor Day holiday.
All county emergency-response and 24-hour-a-day services will continue uninterrupted both days, including law enforcement and emergency support to individuals, such as child protective services.
Friday is one of 12 days county offices will be closed during the 2009-10 fiscal year while approximately 2,200 county employees take unpaid, mandatory time off. The furlough days apply to three groups of employees: management, confidential and those represented by the Placer Public Employees Organization.
The 12 furlough days will help the county balance its budget for 2009-10.
Placer County Transit and Placer Commuter Express, a weekday service that takes commuters to downtown Sacramento and back, will be on their regular schedules Friday, but closed on Monday.
Tahoe Area Regional Transit will follow its regular schedules Friday through Monday.
