Construction to Begin on Highway 49

Motorists and pedestrians along Highway 49 may notice in the coming month construction on the stretch of Highway 49 near Bell Road. Work will begin on July 12, 2010 and consist of the installation of new sidewalks and landscaping along Highway 49, a new dedicated right-turn lane on Northbound Highway 49 into the Rock Creek Plaza shopping center near Bell Road, demolition and reconstruction of Quartz Drive inside the Rock Creek Plaza shopping center and traffic signal interconnect work on Bell Road near the entrance of the shopping center.
During construction motorists and patrons of the shopping center may still access Highway 49, Bell Road, and the shopping center; however, there may be some minor inconveniences during to the construction activity. The project will enhance the Highway 49 corridor and provide sidewalks for pedestrians in front of the shopping center. The project is expected to take two months to construct.
The Placer County Redevelopment Agency is the project manager. Funding for the project is provided by the State of California, Housing and Community Development Department, Community Development Block Grant Program, supplemented by local North Auburn Redevelopment Project Area funds.
