Placer County offices will be closed Friday through Monday, July 2 through July 5, 2010. The July 5 closure is in celebration of the Fourth of July, while the Friday, July 2 closure is a cost-saving measure.
All county emergency-response and 24-hour-a-day services will continue uninterrupted, including law enforcement and emergency support to individuals, such as child protective services.
Friday is one of the days county offices will be closed during the 2010-11 fiscal year while approximately 2,200 county employees take unpaid, mandatory time off. The furlough days apply to three groups of employees: county managers, confidential employees and those represented by the Placer Public Employees Organization.
Furlough days will help the county balance its budget for 2010-11.
Placer County Transit will operate on its regular schedule Friday and Saturday. Placer Commuter Express, a weekday service that takes commuters to downtown Sacramento and back, will also follow its regular schedule Friday. Neither will operate on Sunday or Monday.
Tahoe Area Regional Transit will follow its regular schedule each day.
All branches of the Placer County Library will be closed Friday.
