Economic Development staff from Placer County and the City of Roseville are co-sponsoring a Small Business Procurement Expo on Wednesday, June 16.
The expo is an opportunity for local small business owners to learn how to sell to government agencies, such as cities, counties, state and the federal government as well as public utilities. There is no cost to attend the Expo.
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Maidu Community Center in Roseville, located at 1550 Maidu Drive in Roseville.
At 10 a.m. there will be a panel discussion explaining the process businesses should follow to provide goods or services to government agencies and public utilities.
“In today’s economy, expanding your market share can be an ongoing challenge for every small company,” said Placer County Economic Development Director David Snyder. “Doing business with government agencies can also present certain challenges unless you have the tools and the exact method to register as a qualified vendor prior to ever making a sale.
“All government agencies have a mandate to work with small business and we want our local businesses to understand the process. Our goal with the Procurement Expo is help local businesses understand how best to sell to government including utilities.”
Panelists will include the California Public Utilities Commission, the Federal Technology Center (FTC), the California Dept. of General Services, staff from Placer County and City of Roseville, and the Small Business Administration.
Following the panel discussion, the Federal Technology Center will present a one-hour workshop “Getting Started.”
Attendees can also sign up for a 10-minute “meet and greet” session with procurement officers from agencies such as Beale Air Force Base, Placer County and City of Roseville, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the Dept. of General Services, the California PUC, SureWest Communications, the Placer County Water Agency, Kaiser Permanente and likely others.
Resource tables will also be available through the day, and will be staffed by people respresenting the Veterans Outreach Center, mPowerPlacer.org, Golden Sierra Business Connections, Los Rios Small Business Development Center, Placer County and City of Roseville Vital Assets teams in addition to staff from agencies already mentioned.
