Placer County offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 11 to observe Veterans Day and Friday, Nov. 12 as a cost-saving measure.
All county emergency-response and 24-hour-a-day services will continue uninterrupted both days, including law enforcement and emergency support to individuals, such as child protective services.
Friday is one of 5 days county offices will be closed during the 2010-11 fiscal year while most county employees take unpaid, mandatory time off. The furlough days will help Placer County keep its budget balanced this fiscal year.
Placer Commuter Express, a weekday bus service that takes commuters to downtown Sacramento and back, will be closed on Thursday, but will resume its regular schedule Friday.
Placer County Transit, Tahoe Area Regional Transit and the Dial-A-Ride service will follow their regular schedules both days.
Branches of the Placer County Library generally will be closed both Thursday and Friday, but will be open on Saturday, Nov. 13. The one exception is the Rocklin branch, which is scheduled to be closed until Jan. 10 because it is being relocated to a new site at Rocklin Road and Granite Drive in Rocklin.
