Placer County, in support of the City of Roseville, will be hosting a free job fair for employees affected by the Galleria fire. The job fair, on Wed., Nov. 3, 2010, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., will be at the University of Phoenix, 516 Gibson Dr. in Roseville. There will be resume critiquing available from 1:00 to 3:30 P.M.
Attending retailers will be on hand to accept resumes and interview for job openings. A list of confirmed companies can be found on the county website at www.placer.ca.gov/jobfair starting Mon. Nov. 1, 2010.

Additionally, Placer County, along with the City of Roseville, will extend a Local Assistance Center for employees displaced by the fire at the Westfield Galleria at Roseville. The center, which opened last Monday, will remain open into next week.
The Assistance Center is open to Galleria employees who are Placer County residents. They can apply for a variety of assistance programs through Placer County Human Services. (Contact information for employees who reside in neighboring counties is below.) Programs include Food Stamps, Medi-Cal, CalWORKS, Employment Services, Medical Care Services Program (MCSP) and General Relief.

Representatives from the state Employment Development Department (EDD) will be on-site at the Sunset Human Services office in Rocklin to provide unemployment application assistance to impacted residents. There are EDD computers available at the Sunset Boulevard office for employees to register for unemployment insurance benefits. EDD representatives will be available from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Westfield is advising mall employees who have not heard from their employers to go to the mall’s management office to get information.
