Placer County Animal Shelters Offering Half-Off Pet Adoption Coupons Through December 15th

December 02, 2011

Numerous loveable and healthy pets are available for adoption from Placer County’s animal shelters, and coupons covering half of the adoption fee are still available at the shelters in order to place as many adoptable animals into caring homes as possible. This fall promotion began November 15th and is continuing through December 15th. Residents are encouraged to celebrate the season of giving thanks by providing a home to one of these pets and by taking advantage of the half-off pet adoption coupons while they are available.

Placer County Animal Services is able to offer the half-off coupons due to charitable contributions and the support of A New Hope Animal Foundation. The generosity of the community and of A New Hope to help find homes for more dogs and cats is greatly appreciated. The coupons are available for all adoptable animals at both county shelter locations in Auburn and in Tahoe Vista. Residents need only to arrive at a shelter, select their new pet, get a coupon on the spot, and pay half of the usual fee. The half-off fee will be $56 for dogs and $46 for cats. As always, the adoption fee is all-inclusive, including the cost of altering, vaccinations, registration, and microchip identification, and all adoptable animals have undergone evaluations for health, behavior and temperament.

“We’ve seen a bountiful increase in the number of dogs and cats that have come into our shelter this year,” says Mike Winters, Animal Services Manager. “What better way to show gratitude and celebrate the season than with the gift of a new beginning for a needy dog or cat? A new pet could be a great addition to your family.”

“It’s our pleasure to work with Placer County Animal Services to help promote the animals in the Placer County shelters,” says Lynn Howe, President of A New Hope Animal Foundation. “Many people aren’t aware of the wonderful animals in our county shelters and it’s our hope that this promotion will help these pets find new homes in time for the holidays this season.” A New Hope Animal Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization, is a valued partner of Placer County Animal Services and assists the county staff with animal care and adoptions.

The Auburn animal shelter is located at 11251 B Avenue, Auburn, and the Tahoe Vista shelter is located at 849 Shelter Rd., Tahoe Vista. You can preview the animals available for adoption at or by using the “search” link on the shelter website at
