The Library Advisory Board is an eight-member body that advises and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and library officials on the operations of the Placer County Library. It also serves as an advisor to the administrative council of the Mountain Valley Library System, a network of libraries in counties throughout Northern and Central California.
The advisory board normally meets at 10 a.m. on the third Wednesday of every other month. Meetings take place in various branches of the Placer County Library.
The Board of Supervisors appoints six of the eight members of the Library Advisory Board. Five are appointed to represent the five supervisorial districts and a sixth represents the North Tahoe area, a part of the 5th District. Each of the advisory board members appointed by the Board of Supervisors generally serves a term that coincides with the four-year term of the supervisor who represents the same district.
The other two advisory board members are appointed by the Auburn City Council.
