Grant Sought For Assessment Of North Tahoe Mobile Home Parks

May 03, 2011

After holding a public hearing today, the Placer County Board of Supervisors authorized the submission of a grant application by the Placer County Redevelopment Agency. That grant, if awarded, will be used to survey mobile home parks in Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. The $35,000 grant would come from the state Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Planning and Technical Assistance Program.

Some mobile home parks within the North Lake Tahoe Redevelopment Project Area are more than fifty years old and in a deteriorated condition. The Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista area has been targeted due to the number and condition of the parks in these mountain communities. The survey would have an ultimate goal of determining the feasibility, opportunities and constraints on rehabilitating or redeveloping the parks. Based on information derived from the survey as well as research on resources available from outside sources, the Agency would develop ideas for upgrading the parks.

The grant monies would pay for staff to conduct the survey, which would begin in 2012 and take approximately 18 months to complete. Local cash matching funds required to obtain the $35,000 award will be provided through Placer County CDBG Program Income. There will be no affect on the County’s General Fund.

The Board took up the matter at its regularly scheduled meeting at the Board of Supervisors Chambers in the Placer County Administrative Center, 175 Fulweiler Ave., Auburn.
