Placer County is accepting applications from community members interested in serving two-year terms on the Granite Bay Municipal Advisory Council.
The two-year terms of the advisory council’s seven current members are scheduled to end on Jan. 31, 2013. Current members are encouraged to apply for reappointment to their seats.
The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, Jan. 4.
Fourth District Supervisor Kirk Uhler, Granite Bay’s representative on the Board of Supervisors, will review the applications and recommend candidates for approval by the full board.
“The Granite Bay MAC is a vital forum for discussing issues that shape the future of our community,” Supervisor Uhler said. “Being a MAC member is a great way to serve the community, know what’s going on in Granite Bay and have your voice heard on key issues. I pay close attention to what is said at MAC meetings, because its deliberations allow me to closely monitor the community’s pulse on critical issues.”
The county’s 14 MACs advise the Board of Supervisors on issues of public interest in unincorporated areas. The councils are charged with gathering public comment on a range of topics, including land use, public works, recreation, law enforcement and public health and safety.
The members of each MAC must reside, be property owners, or be business owners or managers within the MAC’s boundaries.
The Granite Bay MAC normally meets at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Meetings take place in the offices of the Eureka Union School District, 5455 Eureka Road in Granite Bay.
