The Placer County Board of Supervisors will resume the public hearing on the appeals of the proposed Orchard at Penryn project at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, in the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the County Administrative Center, 175 Fulweiler Ave. in Auburn.
The Board commenced the public hearing on the project during a three-hour special meeting held Oct. 11 and listened to presentations by Planning staff, the appellants and the applicant and began the public testimony portion of the proceeding. The Board heard from more than 20 people before moving to continue the public hearing to Tuesday’s meeting due to time constraints and a long list of individuals signed up to provide testimony.
The Orchard at Penryn project was approved by the Placer County Planning Commission on June 28, 2012. The project proposes 150 multi-family residences on a 15-acre site at the west side of Penryn Road just north of Interstate 80. The Town of Loomis and an organization known as Stop 150 Apartments Group filed separate appeals of that approval and the certification of the project’s final environmental impact report.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the Board is scheduled to finish hearing public testimony before beginning its deliberations on whether to uphold or overturn the Planning Commission approval of the project.
In other business, the Board will consider a two-year work program to update the Sheridan Community Plan. Sheridan, located in western Placer County, has had recent water and sewer infrastructure upgrades, seen the opening of the Highway 65 Bypass, and has had changing community interest. The Sheridan General Plan was adopted in 1976 and has not been updated since that time. The update would provide a long-range vision and a land use strategy to guide growth and development in Sheridan through the Year 2030. Funding for the update will be allocated to the preparation of an environmental document and a master Sewer and Water Plan.
