Public Workshop to Kick Off Sheridan Community Plan Update

November 09, 2012

The Placer County Planning Division in collaboration with the Sheridan Municipal Advisory Council is hosting a public “Kickoff Meeting” for an update of the Sheridan Community Plan. The meeting will be Wed., Nov. 28, 2012, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Stewart Hall, 6005 Camp Far West Rd., in Sheridan. County planners will be present at the meeting to explain the update process and receive public comment. Property owners, residents, and all other interested parties are invited to attend and will have the opportunity to discuss Sheridan’s community goals and priorities with County staff.

“The workshop on November 28th is the start of the planning process. I encourage residents to attend to learn more about the purpose of the Community Plan, the process, and how they can be involved in planning for Sheridan’s future,” said District 2 Supervisor Robert M. Weygandt. “A number of infrastructure improvement projects in Sheridan have recently been completed or will soon be underway, clearing the path for new investment.”

Recent water and sewer infrastructure upgrades, the opening of the Highway 65 Bypass, and changing community desires attest to the need for a comprehensive update to the 1976 Sheridan General Plan. The update is proposed as a long-range vision and a land use strategy to guide growth and development in Sheridan through the Year 2035.

A section of the Placer County website has been dedicated to providing up-to-date information throughout the process. This will be maintained by the Planning Division and may be viewed by clicking this link: Sheridan Community Plan Update

In addition, Sheridan residents are encourage to complete and return a community survey that will help guide county planners on land use, development, and quality of life options for the Sheridan area. The survey has been mailed to all property owners within the Sheridan Municipal Advisory Council area, is available on the webpage, or can be picked up at the Nov 28th workshop and is due back to the Planning Division by Dec. 3, 2012. A map of the Sheridan Municipal Advisory Council boundaries is attached.

In order to plan for seating, county staff is asking those who plan on attending the workshop to contact Planning staff. This is not required but would be appreciated. For information about the Community Plan Update process, to let staff know you plan on attending, or obtain a copy of the community survey, contact Senior Planner Christopher Schmidt at 530-745-3076, or by E-mail .
