CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE TO HOLD MEETINGS IN ROCKLIN AND AUBURN

September 14, 2012

The Placer County Charter Review Committee has scheduled two upcoming public meetings in Rocklin and Auburn as it reviews the County Charter and makes recommendations for revisions or amendments.

The Rocklin meeting will be on Thurs., Sept. 13, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. at the Rocklin Library Conference Room, 4890 Granite Dr., Rocklin.

A second meeting will be held on Wed., Sept, 19, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the Auburn Library Beecher Room, 350 Nevada St., Auburn.

The Charter is a governing document approved by voters in 1980 that provides flexibility in local decision making. The Charter also contains provisions that guide the organizational structure, duties and responsibilities of elected and appointed officials. The Charter requires the Supervisors to convene a Charter Review Committee every five years.

Topics for review by the Committee can come from the Board, other elected or appointed county officials, the committee, the public, other agencies or county employees. Any recommendations for changes or additions proposed by the Committee will go to the Supervisors for review. Changes supported by the Board would then be submitted to county voters for consideration.

The Charter is available for viewing at: (http://www.placer.ca.gov/departments/ceo/programs%20and%20policies/charter). The public is invited and encouraged to attend the meetings and provide input to the Committee on possible changes to the County Charter.
