Placer County is seeking applications to fill vacancies on a 5th District advisory body, the Weimar-Applegate-Colfax Municipal Advisory Council (WAC MAC).
Commonly known as MACs, the county’s 14 municipal advisory councils advise the Board of Supervisors on issues of public interest in unincorporated areas. The councils are charged with gathering public comment on a range of topics, including land use, public works, recreation, law enforcement and public health and safety.
The terms of current members of the WAC MAC ended on Jan. 31, 2013. Current members will be reappointed to new two-year terms in many cases.
Fifth District Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery will review the applications and recommend candidates for approval by the full board. The members of the MAC must reside, own property or own or manage businesses within the MAC’s boundaries.
The WAC MAC represents Weimar, Applegate and unincorporated areas around Colfax. The Council generally meets at 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in the Colfax City Hall, 33 South Main St.
For application forms, call the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors Office at 530-889-4020 or go to the county website by clicking this link: WAC MAC. Completed applications should be delivered or mailed to the Clerk of the Board’s Office, 175 Fulweiler Ave., Auburn, CA 95603.
