Issuing a License : The licensing authority specified in PC section 12050(a)(1) (a sheriff or head of a municipal police department) may issue a license to persons who are of good moral character, who have completed a course of training, and where good cause exists for issuance of the CCW license. All applications for a CCW will be fingerprinted and state records will be checked to determine if they are in a prohibiting class.

What to bring to your appointment:
- Your completed “Standard Application for License to Carry a Concealed Weapon”
- Up to three (3) Unloaded weapons you wish to register.
- Permit fee of $210.00 (personal check or cash only)
- Livescan fingerprinting will be conducted at the time of your appointment, and the normal fingerprinting fee is included in the $210.00 CCW
Renewal Information: Renewal is necessary every two years and must be submitted within 45 days of the expiration of the original Concealed Weapons Permits and requires:
- CCW Renewal Class (4 hours)
- Bring your successful Completion Certificate
- CCW Renewal Form
Changes:
You are required by law to notify our department and make documented changes to your permit should you:
- Move to any new address, even within Placer County
- Add, remove or change registered weapons
- $5.00 per change
- Add, remove or change registered weapons (examples below)
- Remove weapon = 1 change
- Changing weapons = 2 changes (1 add new, remove previous)

Laminated Permit Changes:
It is possible to make changes to a laminated card for a fee of $5.00 in addition to the Change fees mentioned above.
Lost Permit:
If your permit is lost, we can provide a certified copy for a $5.00 fee
