About us
Placer County is one of the fastest growing counties in California with a population of more than 260,000 residents. Placer County, "Where Gold 'n Memories Are Made," You are invited to indulge in the county's delights. Located in beautiful Northern California, just 100 miles northeast of San Francisco and 100 miles west of Reno. Placer County covers the valley, the Gold Country and the High Country. Auburn, the County seat, is located 35 miles east of Sacramento.

The Placer County Treasurer-Tax Collector, an elected official, in her capacity as the County Treasurer serves as the bank to the County, all school districts and numerous special districts.
The Treasury currently has $714 million on deposit at a low point and over $1 billion as a high point. These monies are held in various investments consisting of treasury notes and bills, other government bonds and money market instruments.
The Placer County Treasurer-Tax Collector in her capacity as the County Tax Collector collects taxes for more than 70 different taxing agencies within the county. She collects over 230 different taxes including special assessments and direct charges.
