CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION

Establish an equitable and uniform procedure for dealing with personnel matters, and to place County |
|
employment on a merit basis for the purpose of obtaining the highest efficiency and assuring that the best |
|
qualified persons available shall be brought into the service of the County. |
|
Established by the voters in 1961. Five (5) members shall be selected from among qualified electors of the |
|
County. No member of the commission shall be an employee of the classified or unclassified service, an |
|
officer of any local, state or national committee of a political party, or an officer of a committee in any |
|
partisan political club or organization, or shall hold or be a candidate for any elective office. A majority vote |
|
of the entire Board of Supervisors shall be required to elect a member of the commission. (Chapter 3, Sec. |
|
3.08.020). Term of office is 4 years. |

2nd Monday of each month. Closed session starts at 4:00 p.m.; the regular meeting starts at 4:30 p.m. in |
|

$100.00 per diem; with a maximum limit for 24 meetings per County fiscal year. Travel and |
|
other official expenditures necessitated by their official duties shall be approved by the PERS Director. |
