FIRST 5 PLACER CHILDREN AND FAMILIES COMMISSION |
|
To create and implement a comprehensive, collaborative and integrated system of information and services to |
|
promote, support, and optimize early childhood development from the prenatal state to five years of age. Shall |
|
work to ensure that early childhood development programs and services for proper nurturing and health care are |
|
universally and continuously available for the county's children until at least the beginning of Kindergarten. |
|
The First 5 Placer Children and Families Commission is a public entity legally separate and apart from the County. |
|
The Commission contracts with the County Health and Human Services Department for staff support. Commission |
|
Funds are kept in the County Treasury so for auditing purposes it is considered a component unit of the County |
|
due to this operational relationship between the Commission and the County |
|
The Commission has a governing board of nine (9) members, which are appointed by the Board of Supervisors |
|
upon recommendation from the Commission. The composition of the Commission membership is guided by |
|
requirements in Health and Safety Code Section 130140 (A) and includes membership representing the following: |
|
Public health services; behavioral health services; social services; Board of Supervisors; early childhood |
|
development educators and specialists; medical, pediatric, or obstetric, expertise; and representatives from the |
|
general public who demonstrate an interest in early childhood development. |
|
Commissioners serve three- year terms. No member may serve more than two consecutive three-year terms. |
|
The second Thursday of each month at 11820 Enterprise Dr, Auburn, CA from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. |
|
Members shall serve without compensation and shall be reimbursed the actual amounts of their reasonable and |
|
necessary expenses incurred in attending meetings and in performing the duties of their offices. |
