MUNICIPAL ADVISORY COUNCIL - SQUAW VALLEY

 

PURPOSE:

The Municipal Advisory Council may advise the Board of Supervisors on matters of concern which relate to the

area served by the Municipal Advisory Council. The Council shall advise the Board of Supervisors on matters

specifically referred to it by the Board of Supervisors for review and recommendation.

Section 1105 of Chapter 30 of the Placer County Code provides for the creation of a Design Review Advisory

Committee to review and provide comments to the Planning Department on all applications within Design

Control District in the Squaw Valley area.

The Council shall adopt rules, regulations and procedures as are reasonable and appropriate for its activity, as

are specifically approved by the Board of Supervisors. The Council shall also comply with any rules,

regulations, and procedures contained in the MAC Manual proscribed and approved by the Board of

Supervisors. In absence of procedures to the contrary, the council shall be governed by Robert’s Rules of

Order.

The Council shall keep all record of its actions in a form prescribed by the Placer County Auditor. (Res. 2005-

COMPOSITION:

Seven (7) members at-large, appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Members shall, at the time of

appointment and at all times during term of office, be residents within the MAC boundaries, or property owners

or real property within the area, or business owners or managers operating a business within such area.

Failure to maintain such status shall result in a vacancy in office.

Members shall be nominated by the Board member representing supervisorial district five and be appointed by

a majority of the Board of Supervisors. Members shall serve two-year terms, the first two year term

commencing on or about February 1, 2005 and concluding on January 31, 2007, then running in two year

cycles thereafter, but always ending on January 31st of the appropriate year.

In the event of a supervisorial vacancy during a term of office caused by resignation of a supervisor or any

other reason, upon the appointment or election of any new supervisor to fill the unexpired supervisorial term

all MAC member appointments shall be vacated within thirty (30) days of the new supervisor assuming office.

The new supervisor may nominate members to be considered for appointment for the unexpired term of

membership.

At any time, members may be removed by a majority vote of the Board of Supervisors. (Res. 2005-21)

MEETINGS:

Last Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Squaw Valley Fire Department meeting room.

 

COMPENSATION:

All members of the Council shall serve without compensation.
