CHP Neighborhood Traffic Watch Program Information

California Highway Patrol (CHP)
NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC WATCH (NTW) PROGRAM

What is NTW? It is a new program offered by Auburn Area CHP. It is a watchdog program in which neighbors can report reckless driving within their neighborhood by logging onto a website or calling Auburn CHP.

Signs will be posted in your community with a phone number that concerned citizens can call that goes directly to the Auburn CHP Office. They can talk with an officer to report ongoing reckless driving. The other option will be to report anonymously by logging onto the following website: www.lesleyscrusade.org and linking to "report a reckless driver."

Auburn CHP receives numerous complaints of speed and reckless driving in Placer County. Their plan is to launch this NTW program in a community where neighbors can hold each other accountable. In the past, officers respond to the area where they receive the complaints and find that many of the violators live within the area where the complaints are initiated. With NTW, an officer can go directly to the home of the registered owner and make contact with the driver.

Also, by using the website, parents and others can log onto the website to see if they have been reported for reckless driving. This is a great option for parents who are concerned with the driving habits of their teenage children.

With the success of this program in Granite Bay neighborhoods, CHP has opted to provide signs in other neighborhoods to spread NTW throughout areas of Placer County. Please make an effort to assist us with the concerted effort to help your neighborhood reduce speed and other associated factors of unsafe and reckless driving behavior.

If you have any further questions, please contact Officer Kelly Baraga at 916-663-3344.
