In other board business:
Supervisors voted 3-2, with Jim Holmes and Weygandt on the short end of the decision, to approve the appointment of Forest Fuels Management owner Larry Jordan of Foresthill to the county Agricultural Commission.
Jordan will take the forest industry position on the board. Holmes said he had no problem with appointing Jordan but that he needed more information before moving ahead, because letters in support of another candidate - timber land owner Allan Edwards of Colfax - had been submitted but not included in the board packet he received. Weygandt called for a delay on the vote, saying that Edwards wanted to meet with supervisors. Supervisor Bruce Kranz had nominated Jordan under rules that give the chairman the power to put forward a nominee to the board on the timber sector post. He told the board that his district has "almost all the timber" and that Jordan had worked "hand and hand" with him on wildfire and biomass issues. He added that he was concerned Edwards' lawsuit against the city of Colfax over sewer treatment releases "could create some problems." After the 3-2 vote, at Holmes' request, he and Weygandt agreed to make a second vote unanimous.
