Greater Auburn Area Fire Safe Council

Purpose

To educate the public regarding the dangers associated with living in a Wildland Urban Interface Area and to assist in indentifying high-risk areas. To provide a Community Fire Safe Plan for those areas covered by the Council. To cooperate with all related public and governmental agencies to implement the plan. To promote fuel reduction programs and projects which will provide a safer environment in the event of wildfires which may threaten the area.

Composition

The Council shall consist of a maximum of 11 members. The Board of Supervisors shall appoint four (4) members, two (2) for District 3 (three) and two (2) for District 5 (five). Two (2) members (one from each district) will serve for a term of one (1) year and the other two (2) will serve for a term of two (2) years. Members shall maintain a primary residence within the boundaries of the council's planning area. The City of Auburn shall appoint four (4) members for two (2) year terms. Members shall maintain a primary residence within the city limits. Initial members shall serve one (1) year terms two from the Board of Supervisors, two from the City of Auburn. Members may be removed and replaced at the discretion of the governing body. Placer Consolidated Fire Protection District, Auburn Fire Department shall each appoint one (1) member to serve at the discretion of the respective fire services. CDF shall appoint one (1) member. Any of the parties may end their participation in the Council at any time.

Compensation

Members shall serve without compensation.
