Agricultural Engine Registration

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OWNERS AND OPERATORS OF STATIONARY AND PORTABLE DIESEL AGRICULTURAL ENGINES GREATER THAN 50 HORSEPOWER

REQUIREMENT FOR ENGINE REGISTRATION

Updated September 20, 2012

In response to this State law, the Placer County Air Pollution Control District (District) is required to have owners/operators of new and existing agricultural diesel engines rated at 50 horsepower or greater register their engines with the District by March 1, 2008. Owners are encouraged to register their engines as soon as possible to meet the compliance deadline. Registration information is below. You must complete the applicable forms for all diesel engines used at your facility, except those that propel vehicles. Failure to apply for registration by March 1, 2008 may result in enforcement action, including monetary fines.

Form 1 - General Information
Form 2 - Stationary Engine Information
Form 3 - Portable Engine Information

Completed forms should be submitted by March 1, 2008 to the District at:

Placer County Air Pollution Control District
110 Maple Street
Auburn, CA 95603

In addition to registration, the law required engines to:
• Be equipped with a non-resetting hour meter and
• Meet the new emission standards by the compliance schedule in the table below.

There may be funding available through the Carl Moyer Program or the District’s Clean Air Grant Program to replace these engines. Please call Heather Kuklo at (530) 745-2339 if you are interested in these programs.

You may visit the California Air Resources Board's website for more information on this State law and the emission standards. If you have any questions in regard to the registration application or requirements, please contact Don Duffy at the District at (530) 745-2336.
