Solar-Photovoltaic Permitting via Email

Expedited solar permitting is available, in our offices or via email, for small roof top and ground mount solar systems (less than 10 Kw).

There are two options for submitting a solar system permit - in person, or by email:

  1. In person: Print and complete the Permit application and solar checklist on 8-1/2x11" paper. Provide a complete set of detailed solar plans, including a completed site plan showing all structures, septic system, setbacks (verify setbacks with Planning at planning@placer.ca.gov) on 11x17" paper drawn to an acceptable scale (like 1"=10' or 1"=20'). Office submittals will be issued over the counter after review and approval of a complete submittal and payment of permit fee.
  2. By email: Complete the Permit application and associated attached documents on the website. Complete and scan the required complete set of detailed solar plans, including a completed site plan showing all structures, septic system, setbacks (verify setbacks with planning at planning@placer.ca.gov) on 11x17" paper drawn to an acceptable scale (like 1"=10' or 1"=20'). There is a "Submit" button at the bottom of the Permit application form that you can use to send your application to gosolar@placer.ca.gov. Attach all associated documents, including the plans, to the email. After the submittal is approved by all department/divisions you will receive an email with a request for the permit fee. Once the payment has been received (pay application fees here) we will mail the approved permit, plans and associated documents to the applicant within 1-3 business days after approval for email submittals.

Incomplete submittals will be returned to the applicant

The following forms must be completed and on the job site prior to final inspection:

mPOWER is a Property Assessed Clean Energy (Pace) program. It provides financing for both residential and non-residential property owners to make energy efficiency improvements, as well as solar and water conservation measures. PACE is unique, in that, the financing will be repaid by adding the annual installments to the property tax bill.
