ROSEVILLE RESIDENT CONVICTED OF MURDERING ROOMMATE

Joseph Arthur Nunn of Roseville, California was found guilty today of second degree murder in the shooting death of his roommate, Kevin Spindler also of Roseville, on September 30th, 2013.  In addition to being found guilty of murder, the Jury found true a firearms enhancement that Nunn discharged a weapon causing death under 12022.53 of the Penal Code.

Evidence presented at trial shows that Nunn shot the victim while the victim was on the phone with the 911 Dispatcher. The audio recording of the 911 call was played for the Jury. The Defense attempted to present evidence that Nunn had acted in self-defense.

Veteran Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Ow prosecuted the case on behalf of the District Attorney’s Office. Ow was pleased with the Jury’s verdict and attributed the successful prosecution to the quality investigation of Detective Fernandez and the Roseville Police Department.  It was the Roseville Detective’s diligent and thorough investigation that enabled the Prosecution to dispel the notion that the Defendant acted in self-defense when he shot Mr. Spindler.

Nunn remains in the Placer County Jail and is being held without bail. His sentencing is scheduled to take place on December 16, 2016 at 1:30 in Department 13 before the Honorable Garen Horst who presided over the trial.  Nunn is facing a sentence of 40 years to life in state prison.
