ROCKLIN MAN CONVICTED FOR THE MURDER OF HIS FATHER

Robert Carlo Yandolino, 28, of Rocklin was convicted today of First Degree Murder in the May 14th, 2015, shooting death of his father Carlo Alexander Yandolino.  The jury also found the alleged special circumstance allegations of Lying In Wait and Murder for Financial Gain to be true.  Robert Yandolino was also found guilty of Attempted Murder of the Ranch Manager and friend of Carlo Yandolino who witnessed the murder.  Additionally, Robert Yandolino was convicted of several charges stemming from the multiple incidences with his previous live-in girlfriend. The charges included one count of Domestic Abuse, two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one count of Dissuading a Witness.

Evidence presented at trial showed that Robert Yandolino purchased a firearm weeks before his father’s murder.  On May 14th 2015, he waited for his father at his Newcastle address and shot him one time in the head.  He then turned the gun on the Ranch Manager and shot at him.  The gun malfunctioned and the Ranch Manager was able to escape and identify Robert Yandolino as the killer.  Detectives traced the weapon back to the residence of Robert Yandolino.  He was arrested by Deputies in Rocklin on the same day.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jeff Wilson and Deputy District Attorney Jamie Smith who were both pleased with the outcome.  Wilson and Smith attributed the success of the prosecution to the investigation conducted by the Placer County Sheriff’s Department and the lead investigator, Detective Chris Joyce, as well as, the strength of the witnesses, friends, and family of Carlo Yandolino.  The strength of the victim’s family and the witnesses who were forced to relive this tragedy in court was an amazing example of courage and devotion to achieving justice for Carlo.

Robert Carlo Yandolino is facing life in prison without the possibility of parole.  The Defendant is scheduled to be sentenced on May 10th, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. in Dept. 44 of the Placer County Superior Court.
