Local Businesses Invited To Attend Free Disaster Preparedness Workshop

March 30, 2011

Local businesses are invited to attend a no-cost disaster preparedness workshop to be held in Roseville Thursday, April 21.

The workshop will take place from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in the Maidu Community Center, 1550 Maidu Drive.

A panel discussion featuring speakers from the Placer County Office of Emergency Services, City of Roseville Emergency Services, American Red Cross and U.S. Small Business Administration is scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. The SBA will discuss its Disaster Loan Program.

The panel discussion also will feature at least one speaker who can offer a first-hand account of lessons learned about getting back to business after a major disaster.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer this workshop, because every business should be prepared for emergencies,” said county Director of Economic Development David C. Snyder. “Remember, how quickly you get back to business after a major emergency could depend on the planning you do today.”

From 8:30 to 9 a.m., registration will take place and a free continental breakfast will be available.

All businesses that attend will receive binders filled with materials to assist in developing business disaster-preparation plans.

The workshop is sponsored by Placer County and the City of Roseville and funded by the Golden Sierra Workforce Investment Board.
