Farmers’ Market Moving To New Location

August 12, 2014

The Wednesday Auburn Farmers’ Market that brings a cornucopia of locally produced goods will be moving to another location in the Placer County Government Center, commonly called the DeWitt Center. Beginning tomorrow, Wed., Aug. 13, the Market will meet in the lot on the corner of B Avenue and Richardson Drive, directly across from the Auburn Justice Center.

In addition to providing easier access, the new location also offers more parking and higher visibility. With many county departments within a block or two, the new site will promote more visits by county employees and members of the public who do business with the various agencies with nearby county offices.

“The Summer fruits and vegetables are in abundance and we expect to start seeing the fall produce arriving shortly,” said Joshua Huntsinger, County Agricultural Commissioner. “We believe this new location is more prominent and should benefit both vendors and the public and continue to showcase the wholesome, locally-grown food products.”

Buying directly from local food producers, helps build the community by continuing a time-honored connection. It gives the public insight into the miracle of growing or raising food. Shopping from local farms by visiting the Farmers’ Market gives the public, both young and old, a window into learning about nature, their environment and the abundance of fresh, healthy food that is readily available.

For more schedules, available produce, locations, events and other pertinent information about all the Famers Markets, including the weekly Wednesday Market in Auburn, please see the links on the Ag Commissioners website: Farmers’ Markets.
