Fish and Game Commission Soliciting Grant Proposals
August 19, 2014
The Placer County Fish and Game Commission is soliciting grant proposals from non-profit organizations, schools, other organizations and individuals. Recipients must use the money for the protection, conservation, propagation or preservation of Placer County’s fish and wildlife. The maximum award amount of any single grant is $1,000.
Grants are available for projects that are consistent with the intent of the California Fish and Game Code, Section 13103. The grant period is now open and the deadline to submit grant applications is Oct. 10, 2014. Awards will be announced Oct. 22, and grant funds distributed in December.
The Placer County Fish and Game Commission consists of seven members appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The Commission serves an advisory role to the Board and coordinates efforts in habitat restoration, public awareness and natural resource education.
The grant program is supported through the County Fish and Game Fund, which receives half of base fine revenues from Fish and Game Code citations issued in the Placer County. Those funds may be used for fish and wildlife education programs, temporary care of injured or orphaned wildlife, scientific research, or habitat improvement projects.
