Residents invited to talk trash at community meeting

October 20, 2015

AUBURN, Calif. – The Western Placer Waste Management Authority will host its fifth annual community meeting Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss odors and other operational issues of importance to local residents.

The meeting will be held at the WPWMA offices at 3033 Fiddyment Road in Roseville.

The WPWMA is a joint powers authority, comprised of Placer County and the cities of Lincoln, Rocklin and Roseville, which owns and operates the landfill and material recovery facility located in south Placer County.

Over the past four years, the WPWMA has conducted community meetings to engage residents in a dialogue regarding its operations and regional odor conditions. This year’s meeting will highlight several recent and proposed odor-related projects, including the introduction of a mobile-friendly way for residents to quickly report odors to WPWMA staff.

“We try very hard to minimize odors related to the facility, and we’re always striving to do better,” said Bill Zimmerman, deputy executive director for the WPWMA. “We strongly encourage our neighbors to come to the meeting, talk with staff, and provide their feedback.”
