Paid secretaries needed for two Placer municipal advisory councils
Published on September 15, 2016
Placer County is seeking interested community members to serve as paid secretaries for its Horseshoe Bar-Penryn Municipal Advisory Council and Newcastle-Ophir Municipal Advisory Council, both in supervisorial district 3.
Candidates preferably should reside within the Horseshoe Bar-Penryn and Newcastle-Ophir (PDF) MAC districts, which extend roughly from Loomis to Newcastle, and may serve as secretary to either or both councils. The duties of the secretary include publishing and distributing meeting agendas, attending and recording minutes at council meetings and managing official MAC correspondence, among other administrative tasks. Pay is $200 per meeting for each MAC; $300 for meetings lasting longer than 3 hours, or $75 for canceled meetings that have been publicly noticed.
The Horseshoe Bar-Penryn MAC meets the fourth Tuesday of every other month (except November, scheduled for the second Tuesday to avoid conflict with Thanksgiving). The Newcastle-Ophir MAC meets the third Thursday of each month.
The MACs are comprised of local residents who advise the Placer County Board of Supervisors on community issues or concerns. MACs are designed to provide a local public forum where information about land use, transportation and general county information is shared and discussed.
To apply, please download and complete the application (PDF) and return it to the Clerk of the Board at 175 Fulweiler Ave., Auburn, CA, 95603.
