The Placer County Board of Supervisors is looking to fill a vacant seat on the Placer County Library Advisory Board. The seat to be filled will represent Supervisorial District One. This covers the majority of the southernmost portion of the County, and will represent District One Supervisor, Jack Duran for a four-year term. A Library Advisory Board member may serve additional terms if recommended for reappointment by the county supervisor representing their district and approved by the Board of Supervisors.
The purpose of the Library Advisory Board is to advise the Board of Supervisors on various issues affecting Placer County’s libraries, and to make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and the Director of Library Services regarding existing and proposed library policies and procedures. The Library Advisory Board is also involved in the development of plans and programs for the long-term growth and sustainability of Placer County libraries.
Potential candidates for this vacancy must live within the boundaries of District One, which includes the City of Roseville. Candidates should also be collaborative and engaged leaders who are interested in representing the diversity of District One and the county as a whole. A successful Board member will advocate for the library system and will serve as a community ambassador to further raise the profile of the libraries and the services they provide.
The Library Advisory Board meets six times per year at various libraries throughout Placer County. Newly appointed Board members will be provided an orientation by the Director of Library Services.
