County Seeks Members for Proposed Municipal Advisory Council
Published on June 03, 2014
The County is seeking community members to serve on a Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) that is being proposed to serve the Horseshoe Bar and Penryn areas. The proposed MAC will combine the existing Penryn and Horseshoe Bar MACs to form the Horseshoe Bar-Penryn MAC. The Horseshoe Bar-Penryn MAC boundary will include the areas currently served by the Penryn and Horseshoe Bar MACs and will include the area covered by the Horseshoe Bar-Penryn Community Plan. It is anticipated that the Horseshoe Bar-Penryn MAC will convene its first meeting in September 2014.
The purpose of combining these two MACs is to create opportunities for cohesion between the two communities on issues that impact both areas. People who are interested in becoming more involved in the decisions that affect the communities where they live and work are encouraged to apply for a seat on the Horseshoe Bar-Penryn MAC.
The role of the MAC is to advise the Board of Supervisors on matters of concern within their Districts. It is a forum where information about land use, transportation, and general county information is shared and discussed, and where the MAC members may make recommendations on specific projects. MAC meetings are also a venue for residents to share their own views and concerns about issues that are important to them, and weigh in on proposals that impact their lives.
“Both of these MACs are very important to this community,” said District 3 Supervisor Jim Holmes, whose District includes Penryn and the unincorporated area of Loomis. “Having them join forces will allow residents and representatives from these areas to communicate and discuss common issues in a public forum, and will result in a better-informed public.”
The proposed Horsehoe Bar-Penryn MAC is slated to meet on the fourth Tuesday of every other month beginning on September 23, 2014.
Those who are interested in applying to be on the Horseshoe Bar-Penryn MAC are encouraged to contact District 3 Aide, Leah Rosasco and by phone at 530-889-4010 or fill out an application for membership. Applications are due by June 17, 2014.
